By Tourism Radium on January 23, 2019

The winter wonderland of Radium Hot Springs is the perfect place to reconnect and spend time together on a romantic getaway. As you approach the Village of Radium Hot Springs, your tensions will begin to fade and your excitement will build!

Day 1: Soak in the Hot Springs

Begin your visit to the Village of Radium Hot Springs with a blissful soak in the Radium Hot Springs Pools. Sink into the mineral waters, nestled beneath snow-covered rock. It’s a great way to set the tone for a rejuvenating weekend.

Relaxed and ready, grab takeout from a local restaurant and head for a pint at Radium Brewing. With a great selection of beer and welcoming atmosphere, you’ll slip into vacation mode by the end of the evening.

Day 2: Active adventure at Nipika

After a hearty breakfast at a nearby cafe, head to Nipika Mountain Resort, 35 minutes from Radium bordering Kootenay National Park. It’s a winter paradise with nearly 50km of groomed classic and skate cross country ski trails. Try the 30km of dedicated fat bike trails, groomed into wide, smooth corduroy. Or strap on snowshoes to sightsee. All the trails offer picturesque mountain, forest, and river views.

Don’t have the equipment? No problem! Nipika has cross country ski gear, fat bikes, and snowshoes available to rent. Remember to pack snacks to enjoy on the trails, and of course your camera for photos at the scenic viewpoints.

Warm up on your way back to town with another stop at the Radium Hot Springs pools.

After plenty of fresh air, you’ll be ready for a superb supper. Enjoy an evening of fine dining in one of Radium’s restaurants. Enjoy great food and quality time for two reminiscing about your day.

Day 3: Around town

Begin a leisurely morning with a tasty breakfast from a nearby restaurant.

More outdoor fun awaits on an easy-going Sinclair Creek Trail hike with your snowshoes or boots. The trail is an approximately 2.5km loop and provides a series of educational signs about the history of the area.

Rent skates from Far Out Gear Rentals and walk over to Legend’s Field to loop around the rink. Or, experience the longest skating trail in the world on the Lake Windermere Whiteway in Invermere, a 15 minute drive away. Enjoy fresh air and gliding hand-in-hand with beautiful views.

Complete the afternoon with a luxurious treatment at Elevation Massage & Spa, located in the Prestige Hotel in Radium. They offer a wide range of treatments and locally-made, health-conscious products.

A romantic meal is the perfect way to bring this getaway to a close. There are a number of great choices within walking distance.

On the drive home you’ll surely be planning a trip back to relive your favourite moments and discover new ones!
