Kootenay River Runners Since the mid 70’s, Kootenay River Runners has been introducing adventurous travelers to the delights of river rafting in the Columbia Valley.

Kootenay River Runners has guided over 100,000 guests down the Kicking Horse River, Kootenay River, Columbia River and Toby Creek. These rivers carve their way through the Columbia Valley and through some of the most impressive mountain landscapes in the Canadian Rockies. Whether your interests are challenging white water or family rafting, each river offers a unique rafting experience.

The Kicking Horse River:

Acclimatize in the Upper Kicking Horse before crashing through the Class 3 and 4 rapids of the Upper Canyon. To complete your Canadian whitewater rafting adventure may we suggest rafting the Lower Canyon section. You’ll understand how rapids like Double Trouble, Watchman’s Rapid and Rip Tide got their names!  

The Kootenay River:

Raft your way to the remote heart of the Canadian Rockies on this unique and fun family adventure. Enjoy the spirited class 2 and 3 whitewater, exquisite Rocky Mountain scenery and the chance to see wildlife up close. Half day and full day trips leave from the Kootenay River Runners main office in Radium Hot Springs, located in southern British Columbia. It’s a scenic and easy drive from Banff or Lake Louise, and only 30 minutes from Fairmont Hot Springs. The Kootenay River boasts some of the best family rafting in British Columbia!

The Toby Creek:

Toby Creek, carving a turquoise ribbon through mountain wilderness and snow capped mountains, was born from the highest glaciers of the Purcell Mountains. This river is home to spectacular views and offers up thrilling white water rafting and family fun. Ideal for the young – and the young at heart – this river is great for first timers, or seasoned whitewater rafting veterans. These trips are based out of Panorama Mountain Village, located just 40 minutes from both Fairmont and Radium Hot Springs and 20 minutes from Invermere.
