Kids have FUN as Junior Naturalists !!
The Junior Naturalist program is looking for kids ages 6 – 12 to come and have fun exploring the park and learning about wildlife through games, hikes, crafts, activities and special park guests.
Tuesdays and Fridays from July 4 until Aug 19, between 10 and 12 noon, Jackie Leppington and Caitlin Woods will be on hand at Redstreak Campground in Kootenay National Park to help your children have fun in the park. The cost is only $5.00 per child for this two-hour program. Drop by to pre-register at the Friends of Kootenay National Park “Nature’s Gifts and Bookstore” in the Radium Hot Springs Information centre or call 347 6525.
The Friends of Kootenay National Park Association is a non-profit organization, which promotes awareness and appreciation of the cultural and natural history of Kootenay National Park and its surrounding ecosystem. Their gift store is located inside the Radium Visitor Centre in the town of Radium Hot Springs, which is the gateway to Kootenay National Park a World Heritage site.
Friends events and programs include: summer Junior Naturalist Children’s program, winter “Wild Voices Speakers Series”, “Sponsor a Bighorn” project, and new this year the September 27th “Head Banger Trail Challenge”.
If you would like to help support these programs and projects, you can do this in several ways:

A self-governing body with a board of Trustees and annual elections and so on, the Edgewater Improvement District is responsible for the water system street lighting and the Edgewater Hall. The E.I.D. supplies water at various rates for Personal Households, Multi-family, and commercial.
These rates are quite reasonable compared to others in commercial areas of the Valley.
For new lots, there is a Capital Development Charge to new water services to cover the cost of expanding and improving the modern water system. |
Fire Protection is also a responsibility of the Edgewater Improvement District, the volunteer force practices each Monday Night and welcomes new members.
The excellent Edgewater Hall is run by the elected directors of the Recreation Society, always appreciating help and attendence at their events.
The Regional District of East Kootenay operates the large Sewer System. Now in the process of adding an aereation plant, they charge a low monthly amount and a small Capital Development Charge as well.
Ministry of Transportation and Highways is responsible for roadside maintenance and snow removal.
Other provincial bodies come into play in other areas.
The Town has a Post Office, Credit Union,School,Library, Legion, Hall, and Open Market as well as a few shops. All are within walking distance of our Property. Other Services such as Hydro and Cable T.V. etc. are available at a reasonable cost.

The story behind Te Papa Nui Antiques, Invermere
You may well wonder how Joe and myself (Elizabeth), two Scots, opened up an antique store in Invermere with a Maori, New Zealand name.
Joe and I came to Canada in 1980 from Glasgow, Scotland. After a few moves we settled in Calgary and have weekended in Invermere since 1984. Joe retired in 1997, and I geared down to 3 days a week in Calgary and 4 days in Invermere. We have travelled a fair amount and have collected antiques for years.
In 2004 I decided that Joe needed more to occupy his time (he disagreed) and then we both decided to open an antique store and here we are!
We travel to China, Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the UK (You will notice we are true Scots, Islanders, and still cannot call ourselves Europeans!) and have tried to pick quality pieces and hopefully pass them on to our customers at reasonable prices.
If there is something special that we can look out for please tell us and we will do our best. Remember, you cannot pick out antiques from a catalogue as each piece is unique, but we can try to find that unusual item for you.

Using a kiln as a tool, you'll find Heather Cuell, the owner and in studio glass artisan of Effusion Glass Studio, working at various stages of heating glass until she reaches her creative goal. Fusing is the process of heating pieces of glass together to form one. Slumping and casting is the shaping of a piece of glass through the use of a mold. The sheer process of fusing and slumping transparent and opaque glass creates movement and energy in each piece. The scale of her work ranges from small tiles to feature walls.

 Bavin Glassworks is located at 4884A Athalmer hwy, across from the airport in Invermere, BC.
We are a working studio/gallery established in the Columbia Valley in 1988.

Demonstrations

 Windermere’s boating professionals since 1967. Our watersports school can help you experience the thrill of waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and tubing. These sports are easy and fun with the proper equipment, boat, and professional instruction & driving.
Individual lessons ($49) are available, or bring a group and charter the whole boat. Charter packages ($145/hour) include boat, driver, instruction, equipment, and gas.
Up to twelve people can comfortably go at once.
Shadybrook Marina is also Lake Windermere’s headquarters for boating services.
Our lakefront convenience store offers marine fuel, concession, equipment rentals and sales.
